We’ve been doing some ‘essential research’ in the network of amazing Tap houses which have sprung up at the brewery’s in Hackney in the East end since the resurging interest in craft beers and ales over the last few years. It’s great to see the creativity that goes hand in hand with the culture that surrounds these venues…the simple, paired back, mend and make do style on a budget which although rough and ready just goes to prove that you can create some warm and welcoming and surprising spaces in even the most unlikely of draughty old warehouses. They embody a sense of community tied to it’s roots and craft and relaxed, unpretentious places to hang out, spaces where you can not only sample the great beers on offer but food, live music, DJ sets but really get to see the real gritty side of town, a side which unfortunately is fast disappearing. We are all looking forward to making another trip back to sample the delights…all in the name of research, of course!
